Visits to the neighborhoods
Share it

During the week, the Mayor visits the neighborhoods to find out first-hand the needs and improvements of investments and municipal initiatives. Visits to schools, facilities and projects are a very good opportunity to comment on and monitor the transformation of the city with the residents.

Meetings with the mayor
“Meetings with the Mayor” are a regular meetings held between the Mayor and neighbourhood residents. They are held without any pre-established agenda. The Mayor attends them to listen, answer what she can, share reflections on the city and its priorities and improve everyday municipal work. They are unprecedented participation spaces.
The first of these took place in 2015, since when, some fifty meetings with residents have been held. They take place every two weeks in Barcelona’s various neighbourhoods (they had to be suspended last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic).

Mayor's office in the districts
The “Mayor’s Office in the Districts” is an initiative that takes the Government Commission, one of the city’s main decision-making bodies, to all the city’s districts. It was created to give neighbourhoods access to not just institutional but also everyday activities and find out at first hand the reality of each of the city’s 73 neighbourhoods. It therefore responds to the calls made by residents during the activity of the mayor’s office in neighbourhoods: providing channels to give residents access to the institutional activities being carried out by the Mayor’s Office.

Children have plenty to say

Here are some of the projects we are implementing from a perspective which includes our youngest citizens.
