Sant Andreu

The last few years have seen the Sant Andreu neighbourhood reclaiming more spaces for walking, more green spaces, and more public housing. For example, C/ Gran de Sant Andreu is now traffic calmed, and is an area for shopping and car-free neighbourhood life; the new Rambla de Marta Mata boasts 2,700 square metres of greenery, and provides a great space for taking a walk; a housing block in C/ Antoni Santiburcio that will provide 152 flats for the elderly and a youth centre, the Escola Eulàlia Bota, are under construction. And a curiosity: La Marta, an excellent marmalade made from oranges picked from the neighbourhood’s orange trees, as part of an initiative promoted by the District, schools and the social enterprise, Espigoladors.
