Schools are places which are full of life. Because of this, the areas around them need to be safe, healthy and places where local residents can meet up. 

The programme “Protegim les escoles” (Protecting Schools) centres on children’s safety and welfare through various measures such as traffic-calming, improved access and larger spaces for people to relax in, with more greenery. Areas around over 200 schools are to be transformed between now and 2023.
