Barcelona is a caring city, which recognises the social value of care and aims to ensure the right to care and be cared for under conditions of dignity and quality. Because although care is essential for life, until now, the professions and places dedicated to care have been a predominantly insecure, invisible and feminised area.   

However, in Barcelona, we aim to showcase this essential work. To do this we have created the Espai Barcelona Cuida, a space where domestic and care workers can seek advice, and the VilaVeïna spaces, which provide information about resources and services concerning care for other people. We have also improved services such as the Defending Workers’ Rights Points, so that all workers can protect their rights. We have also launched the Carer Card, aimed at all carers, which is free of charge and can be used to access personalised resources.
